Recent Recalls of Baby and Child Products in Canada
Parents across Canada are being urged to check their homes for potentially dangerous baby and child products. In recent weeks, Health Canada and Transport Canada have issued multiple recalls for various items, including car seats, toys, high chairs, baby nests, and helmets. These recalls are due to serious safety hazards that could lead to choking, falls, entrapment, and even drowning.
Several of these products have been linked to at least 10 deaths in the United States, with some models sold in both countries. Major retailers such as Walmart, Dollarama, Costco, and Amazon have been involved in the sale of these recalled items. Below is a detailed breakdown of the latest recalls and safety notices.
Baby Nests
Health Canada has issued recalls for several baby nest models, including the BChic and Chicure models. Over 3,000 units of these baby co-sleeping beds were sold online in Canada between February 2020 and July 2025. The products do not meet Canadian safety standards and pose risks such as strangulation, entrapment, or falling. Parents are advised to stop using the product immediately and dispose of it.
Another model, the Housbay Nest for Baby, was sold through AliExpress.ca, though only four units were distributed in Canada. Health Canada warns that this product also fails to meet crib and bassinet safety standards and could cause similar risks. Parents should stop using it and throw it away.
Additionally, Moda Kids has recalled La Millou Baby Best Nest and La Millou Baby Nest Premium models. These products, sold between November 2023 and April 2025, present design risks that could lead to strangulation, entrapment, or falls. Parents are advised to stop using the nests and contact Moda Kids for a refund.
Stacker Toys and Play Kitchens
Tegu floating stacker toys have been recalled in Canada due to small magnets that can detach and pose a choking hazard. Nearly 2,000 units were sold, and one case has been reported in Canada, with others abroad. Parents are advised to stop using the toy and contact Tegu for a free replacement.
A KidKraft Farm to Table Play Kitchen has also been recalled due to a strangulation hazard. The hooks on the back of the play kitchen can catch clothing if a child crawls through it. One U.S. child died in a similar incident. Parents are instructed to remove the hooks and request replacements from KidKraft.
High Chairs and Portable Cribs
Ciao! Baby Portable High Chairs have been recalled due to potential entrapment risks. Around 90 units were sold between May 2021 and June 2025, and parents are advised to stop using the high chair and contact the company for guidance.
HAPDEN portable crib beds, sold through Walmart Marketplace, have also been recalled. Only 34 units were sold in Canada, but Health Canada warns that the product does not meet crib safety standards and could pose strangulation or fall risks. Parents are advised to stop using the product and dispose of it.
Car Seats and Pools
Evenflo Gold Revolve360 Slim car seats have been recalled due to rear-facing installation issues. About 19,000 units were sold between May 2023 and June 2025. Parents are advised to continue using the seat with UAS or forward-facing and register for a free repair kit in September.
Above-ground pools from brands like Bestway, Intex, and Polygroup have also been recalled. More than 266,000 units were sold between 2003 and 2025. A strap on the outer wall can act as a step, increasing the risk of unsupervised entry and drowning. Parents are advised to keep children away and contact the manufacturer for a free repair kit.
Helmets and Sleeping Bags
Certain youth helmets from 509 and Polaris have been recalled due to potential issues with impact protection and defective chin straps. One report of a concussion in the U.S. has been documented. Parents are advised to contact the manufacturers for a replacement or refund.
Deuter Micro Star sleeping bags have been recalled due to a design flaw that could allow a child to slide fully inside and suffocate. Seventy units were sold in spring 2025 through ROI Recreation Outfitters. Parents are advised to stop using the bag and return it for a full refund.
Other Recalls
Bell Cadence Youth Bike Helmets have also been recalled. Around 500 units were sold at Walmart between September 2024 and May 2025. They may not provide proper crash protection. Parents are advised to stop using the helmet and contact Bell for a refund, which requires cutting the straps and sending photo proof.
Funlio 2-in-1 convertible high chairs have been recalled due to a large tray gap and a faulty harness system. Parents are advised to disassemble the chair and follow the company’s instructions for a refund.
Oracare baby toothbrushes have been recalled due to a choking hazard. The brush can snap in half, and one complaint has been reported. Parents are advised to stop using the product and return it to the store for a refund.
