MASON, OH − The ATP and WTA field is getting smaller at the Cincinnati Open as the fourth round continues Aug. 14 from the Lindner Family Tennis Center.

On the men’s side, there is one Round of 16 spot still up for grabs when No. 5 seed Ben Shelton faces No. 22 seed Jiri Lehecka on the Grandstand Court.

For the WTA, No. 2 seed Coco Gauff, the 2023 Cincinnati Open champion, will open the Aug. 14 day session on Center Court against Italian Lucia Bronzetti for a spot in the quarterfinals.

The ATP quarterfinals will begin on Center Court when reigning Cincinnati Open champion and World No. 1 Jannik Sinner faces No. 23 seed Felix Auger-Aliassime.

French qualifier Terence Atmane continues upset win against Holger Rune

Terence Atmane, a 23-year old from France who advanced to the main draw from the qualifier, continues to be the story of the men’s draw after defeating No. 7 seed Holger Rune, 6-2, 6-3. Look for more about this match here.

Underdog Terence Atmane wins first set against Holger Rune

Terence Atmane, a 23-year old from France who advanced to the main draw from the qualifier, continued his roll by dominating the first set against No. 7 seed Holger Rune in their men’s quarterfinal match. Atmane, ranked 136th in the world, is coming off a win over No. 4 Taylor Fritz.

Update on singles draws at Cincinnati Open

Two men’s singles quarterfinals and one semifinal are set, with No. 3 seed Alexander Zverev facing No. 5 Ben Shelton, and No. 2 seed Carlos Alcaraz facing No. 9 seed Andrey Rublev. No. 1 seed Jannik Sinner has already advanced to the semifinals, facing Terence Atmane.

In the women’s quarterfinals, unseeded qualifier Varvara Gracheva will face Veronika Kudermetova in one quarterfinal. In the other quarterfinals, No. 2 seed Coco Gauff will play No. 7 seed Jasmine Paolini, No. 1 seed Aryna Sabalenka will play No. 9 seed Elena Rybakina, and No. 3 seed Iga Swiatek will play No. 28 seed Anna Kalinskaya. Kudermetova wins Round of 16 match against Linette

Veronika Kudermetova of Russia rallied in the second set to defeated No. 31 seed Magda Linette and win their WTA Round of 16 match 6-4, 6-3. Kudermetova will next face Varvara Gracheva of France, who advanced to the main draw through the qualifying.

The last match of the night is No. 7 seed Holger Rune against qualifier Terence Atmane in a men’s ATP quarterfinal match.

Veronika Kudermetova wins first set against Magda Linette

Unseeded Veronika Kudermetova has won the first set over No. 31 seed Magda Linette, 6-4, in the women’s Round of 16. Kudermetova already has her best showing in a WTA 1000 event in 2025 and is looking for her first trip to the quarterfinals in Mason after two prior advancements to the Round of 16.

Ben Shelton defeats Jiri Lehecka to advance to men’s quarterfinals for second straight year

Ben Shelton, an American and the No. 5 seed, defeated No. 22 seed Jiri Lehecka in the Round of 16, 6-4, 6-4. He had 20 winners to 13 for his opponent, and 17 unforced errors to 28 for Lehecka.

Shelton, coming off a tournament win in Toronto, will play No. 3 seed Alexander Zverev in the quarterfinals. It is a rematch of year’s quarterfinals, which Zverev won in three sets.

Peyton Stearns and doubles partner fall in quarterfinals

Cincinnati native Peyton Stearns and Marketa Vondrousova lost their final service game and eventually lost the second set, 6-3, to the top seeds, Sara Errani and Jasmine Paolini, who advanced to the semifinals. All of the local products are out after Caty McNally and her partner Linda Moskova fell to the No. 2 seed earlier today in the quarterfinals.

McNally and Stearns were the first Cincinnati players to reach the women’s doubles quarterfinals in their home tournament at Mason since Indian Hill legends Angela Farley and Andrea Farley did so in 1988. There was no women’s pro tournament here from 1989 to 2003.

Ben Shelton wins first set over Jiri Lehecka

American No. 5 seed Ben Shelton won the first set over No. 22 seed Jiri Lehecka in the final Round of 16 match in the men’s draw. The winner faces No. 3 seed Alexander Zverev in the quarterfinals.

Peyton Stearns and Marketa Vondrousova trail in doubles quarterfinal

Peyton Stearns and doubles partner Marketa Vondrousova lost the first set on Center Court to the No. 1 seed, Sara Errani and Jasmine Paolini, 6-4. They trail the second set on serve, 3-2.

Varvara Gracheva advances to quarterfinals for first time

Varvara Gracheva of France rolled in the third set to defeat Ella Seidel of Germany, 2-6, 6-1, 6-1. Gracheva, World No. 103, who advanced to the main draw through the qualifier, advances to the quarterfinals to face the winner of tonight’s match between No. 21 seed Magda Linette and Veronika Kudermetova. Gracheva has played well here at Mason, advancing to the second round each of the previous two years, taking Iga Swiatek to three sets in that round in 2024. She has two semifinal appearances in 2025, one at a WTA 125 event one at a WTA 250.

She said she always believed she could make a run like this but is trying to stay in the moment.

“I think the best is when you are trying every day to say ‘How far can I push that day?'” Gracheva said. “So this is kind of interesting because I’ve never been in this situation before, so it’s all new. A little bit more stressful because our brain is naturally set up (so) it doesn’t like new situations. So yeah, I’m trying to challenge myself once again here.”

Peyton Stearns about to play on Center Court

Cincinnati native Peyton Stearns and Marketa Vondrousova will play their women’s doubles quarterfinal match on Center Court. At 4:40 p.m., they are about to start warming up as they play the No. 1 seed from Italy, Sara Errani and Jasmine Paolini. Paolini, the No. 7 seed in singles, won her Round of 16 match earlier today.

Varvara Gracheva forces third set against Ella Seidel

In the Round of 16 matchup of qualifiers, Varvara Gracheva won the second set, 6-1, to force a deciding third set against Ella Seidel. Seidel needed a medical timeout in the middle of the second set as she appeared to be struggling with the heat and was being treated with ice and wet towels.

The winner will face either Veronika Kudermetova or Magda Linette in the quarterfinals. That match is tonight on Center Court.

Jannik Sinner routs Felix Auger-Aliassime to advance to semifinals

After losing the first two games of the second set, Jannik Sinner won the next six to close out his ATP quarterfinal match in the Cincinnati Open over No. 23 seed Felix Auger-Aliassime, 6-0, 6-2. Sinner committed only 12 unforced errors to 29 for his opponent.

Sinner, the defending champion here in Mason, advances to the semifinals against the winner of tonight’s match featuring No. 7 seed Holger Rune vs. qualifier Terence Atmane, which will take place no earlier than 8:30 p.m. on Center Court.

Sinner wants to repeat as champion here, but for him, getting as much match experience on the hardcourt as possible is crucial before the U.S. Open.

“I’m happy that I have played now four matches, so I’m happy that I have a good amount before going into a Grand Slam,” he said. “On hardcourt, different surface again than grass and clay … It’s good that I have a good amount of matches before a Grand Slam.”

Ella Seidel wins first set against Varvara Gracheva

Ella Seidel is one set away from becoming the first player this year to reach the quarterfinals in her WTA 1000 main-draw debut.

Seidel just took the opening set, 6-2, from Varvara Gracheva in the first-ever Round of 16 Cincinnati Open match between two qualifiers since the event gained WTA 1000 status in 2009.

Jannik Sinner bagels Felix Auger-Aliassime in opening set

Jannik Sinner continues to cruise in the Cincinnati Open after a 6-0 first-set victory over No. 23 seed Felix Auger-Aliassime on Center Court.

Sinner took advantage of five double faults and won 100% of points on the second serve, along with 3-of-5 break points.

WTA qualifiers square off in Round of 16

WTA qualifiers Ella Seidel and Varvara Gracheva are in the first set of their Round of 16 match on the Grandstand Court.

Each player held serve to open the match. The winner will face either Veronika Kudermetova or Magda Linette in the quarterfinals.

Jannik Sinner takes Center Court at the Cincinnati Open

ATP No. 1 Jannik Sinner has yet to drop a set in the Cincinnati Open as he takes Center Court to face No. 23 seed Felix Auger-Aliassime.

Sinner just won the opening game, then broke Auger-Aliassime to take a 2-0 lead in the first set.

Caty McNally and Linda Noskova fall in the WTA doubles quarterfinals to No. 2 seed Gabriela Dabrowski-Erin Routliffe, 6-2, 7-6 (3).

Jasmine Paolini storms into Cincinnati Open quarterfinals

A backhand by Barbora Krejcikova just slammed into the net and WTA No. 7 seed Jasmine Paolini is through to the Cincinnati Open quarterfinals for the second time (2023).

Paolini is bidding for her third career WTA 1000 title and she’ll need to go through Coco Gauff in the quarterfinals to get it. The two have split four career meetings though Gauff has won both matchups on hard court, including in Cincinnati in 2023.

Medical timeout for Barbora Krejcikova on Center Court

Barbora Krejcikova needed medical attention for an ankle injury during the second set of her Round of 16 match against WTA No. 7 seed Jasmine Paolini.

The match has resumed with Paolini in full control leading 6-1, 4-1.

Jasmine Paolini starts strong on Center Court

WTA No. 7 Jasmine Paolini, the World No. 9, is off a 3-0 first-set lead in her Round of 16 match against Barbora Krejcikova on Center Court.

The winner will face Coco Gauff in the quarterfinals.

Coco Gauff punches ticket to quarterfinals of Cincinnati Open

After being upset in the Round of 32 last summer, Coco Gauff is looking to make another run at the Rookwood Cup.

Gauff is through to the quarterfinals after beating Lucia Bronzetti on Center Court, 6-2, 6-4. Gauff will face either Jasmine Paolini or Barbora Krejcikova in the quarterfinals.

Coco Gauff takes opening set on Center Court

It took just a half-hour for WTA No. 2 Coco Gauff to take the opening set from Lucia Bronzetti, 6-2.

Gauff landed 83% of her first serves, won 100% of points on the second serve and captured three of five break points.

Cincinnati Open underway Aug. 14

Day 10 of the Cincinnati Open is underway at the Lindner Family Tennis Center. Coco Gauff, the 2023 Cincinnati Open champion, just held serve to open her match against Italian Lucia Bronzetti.

Locals Caty McNally, Peyton Stearns play in doubles draw Aug. 14

Peyton Stearns, partnered with Marketa Vondrousova, and Caty McNally, partnered with Linda Noskova, are the first two Cincinnati natives to play in the Cincinnati Open quarterfinals since 1988.

McNally-Noskova will face the No. 2-seeded duo of Gabriela Dabrowski-Erin Routliffe on the Grandstand Court during the day session. Stearns-Vondrousova battle the top-seeded team of Sara Errani-Jasmine Paolini during the night session.

Cincinnati Open schedule for Aug. 14

Three qualifiers will try to keep their unexpected runs alive at the Cincinnati Open.

WTA qualifiers Ella Seidel and Varvara Gracheva will square off for a spot in the quarterfinals in the third match of the day (not before 3 p.m.) on the Grandstand.

The Aug. 14 night session concludes on Center Court with ATP qualifier Terence Atmane, of France, matched up with No. 7 Holger Rune with a semifinal berth on the line.
